Fungal Nail Laser

Sick of your ugly toe nails? Could be a fungal infection. PodMED Podiatry can help.

A fungal nail infection is a common issue that can cause discomfort and unsightly toenails. Medically known as onychomycosis, it is caused when a fungus invades the nail, often through small cracks in the nail or skin. This usually causes the nail to become discoloured, brittle or thickened. This can be a source of pain and embarrassment for many people.

At PodMed Podiatry, we have non-invasive treatment options, such as The ARC Fox Laser, a device used to treat fungal nail infections. Utilising advanced laser technology, it provides a non-invasive solution for people struggling with stubborn fungal infections. The laser targets the fungal infection by emitting precise wavelengths of light energy that penetrate the nail, heating and destroying the fungus without damaging the surrounding skin or nail bed.

The ARC Fox Laser delivers targeted treatment with minimal discomfort and no downtime. Sessions are undertaken within a normal consultation, where we carry out general foot care, sometimes reducing the thickness of the infected nail where required. Depending on the severity of the infection, most patients require multiple treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The duration of treatment can depend on the severity of the infection. The treatment is painless for most individuals, with a mild warming sensation being the most common feedback.

The ARC Fox Laser is highly effective because it addresses the root cause of fungal nail infections without the systemic side effects associated with prescription oral medications. Additionally, it promotes healthy nail regrowth, helping patients achieve clearer healthier nails over a period of time.
